Christa Stephens (she/her) is an autistic artist whose practice interprets the natural world as a metaphor for human experience. With a background in music and a deep interest in philosophy, she transmutes natural settings into colorful abstractions that combine organic forms with geometric precision– and translates thoughts, emotions, and sensory experiences into poetic compositions. Her paintings merge science and existentialism with improvised aesthetics, offering a unique way to encounter our shared humanity through hypothetical perspectives of color, form, and texture.
Based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Stephens maintains a multifaceted creative practice and advocates strength-based narratives for herself and others on the autism spectrum. Her work has been exhibited in museums, galleries, and contemporary art centers throughout the southwestern United States.
